CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR
-
When you enter the class, you should
be in your seat before the tardy bell rings. All "business" (that includes
buying/selling candy) should be handled before the tardy bell. When the
bell rings, student should be ready to begin class.
-
You may leave your seat only when you
are given permission by Mr. Hebert to do so. There will be no sitting on
desk-tops or tables.
-
You should stay in your seat or assigned
location until the end-of-class bell rings. You are not to congregate at
the door at the end of class.
-
You should have all necessary materials
with you each day. You will not be allowed to return to your lockers.
-
You should not talk (without permission)
or cause disruptions in class.
-
Talking is expressly prohibited during
tests or while Mr. Hebert is talking. At other times, when working on text
assignments or worksheets or group projects, whispering to a close neighbor
about classwork is usually permissible ... especially if you are helping
someone (and that doesn't mean just giving them answers).
-
Food or beverage or gum may be consumed
at Mr. Hebert's discretion.
-
Students may work on classwork from
other subjects or read outside material only after all work for Mr. Hebert's
class has been completed to his satisfaction. There will be no card playing
in class. There will be no radios, disc or tape players in class. Selection
of any auditory material will be at the option of Mr. Hebert and is not
debatable.
-
Violation of class and/or school rules
will result in disciplinary action. Written work will be assigned for minor
infractions. Major infractions will result in a parental conference and/or
a trip to the office.
-
There will be no writing on desks,
stools, walls, etc. Any student partaking in such action will be required
to clean the defaced item and may be referred to the office for vandalism.
-
Students will not be allowed to leave
class to go to their lockers or to the rest rooms at will. If the student
has a medical condition that requires special consideration, the student
will be excused if a note from a family physician is on file in my records.
-
Each student will be allowed to leave
the room (restroom/lockers/etc.) a limited number of times per semester.
-
All rules in your student handbook
will apply in this class.
ABSENCES / MAKE-UP WORK
-
Students are responsible for making
up material covered if they are absent. It is the student's job to find
out what was missed. Missed notes should be obtained from a classmate,
on-line, or on a library computer.
-
Students need to bring a valid excuse
within 3 days of their return in order to be eligible to do any make-up
work. With a valid excuse, you will have 3 class days after returning to
school in which to make up tests. After 3 days, you will receive an F on
any tests that are not made up (even if you had an excuse).
-
Since test dates will be given in advance,
students who are absent the day before or two days before a test will be
expected to take the test if they return to school on the test date. If
you find yourself at home without study materials, call a classmate to
assist you in getting the information.
SUPPLIES
-
Students will need loose-leaf paper
in a three-ring portfolio with pockets (for labs/homework), another notebook
of any type (for notes/classwork), a writing utensil, and possibly a 3
1/2" computer disk. They will also need lab goggles for working
on labs and projects.
PHYSICS: Students will also need
a scientific calculator. Most materials for projects will be provided for
them. If something else is required, any cost should be minimal.
If there is ever a problem paying for supplies, just let me know and I'll
take care of it.
