is entitled "Expectations" to let you know what I expect of you.
I'll start off the year expecting that each student will do his/her
best. If you pay attention in class, do your classwork/ homework/labs,
ask
questions when you don't understand, and study for the tests
... I believe that every single student can make an "A" in this
class.
I understand
that for some students this may require more or less effort than for others.
You
know
best what you need to do to do well in school. If the subject is easier
for you, I expect "A" level work from you. I'll also expect you to assist
your classmates who need to work harder. If you are one of those students
who find the course difficult, you may need to work harder to get to an
"A" level.
If at any
time I can answer a question or help you with the material, please let
me know. I can't read your mind ... you need to let me know if you need
extra help. The object of this class is to do your best to learn
... both the subject material as well as other learning skills (such
as critical thinking, taking notes, etc.). If I can do something to help
you to achieve this, please let me know.
I don't
expect that students will remember all content for years to come.
In fact, some of the most important things that I hope they learn has nothing
to do with formulas or facts. Along the way, there are several lessons
that I try to impart.
1. pick a career in something that you like to do
2. learn how to work with other people (one reason why we often work in
groups)
3. you have to try if you want to succeed
4. grades aren't the most important thing in life
5. you can improve your critical thinking (problem solving) ability |
